So many of our guests comment on the Steeple and Belfry’s perfect location – just a few minutes’ leisurely walk to both the South Bay beach and town centre. And if you’d rather catch a bus, a local service stops rights across the road.
There’s a convenience store just around the corner, and you can enjoy a home-cooked meal, live music and a pint of real ale at Cellars Bar – a couple of minutes’ walk away.
A mini supermarket is just around the corner – perfect for stocking up on essentials. It also has a decent selection of wines, beers and spirits.
McColl’s, 1 Westwood Rd, Scarborough
There are two supermarkets within a couple of minutes’ drive of the Steeple and Belfry. Tesco is open 24 hours Mon-Sat and is up the hill from the Co-operative on Westwood. Sainsbury’s Superstore is on Falsgrave Rd and features homewares, electrical, café and clothes, as well as a supermarket.

The Valley, a small real ale pub, is just around the corner on Valley Rd. It doesn’t serve food, but the cask beers and ciders are very good and there’s an outdoor seating area. About 100m further along is Cellars – a lovely real ale pub serving traditional hand-pulled ales and good, home-cooked food. There’s regular live music and an open fire for the winter months.

A large, sandy bay with a working harbour and small fishing fleet, the South Bay is Scarborough’s most vibrant beach. Packed with restaurants, cafes and pubs – as well as the popular amusement arcades and fairground – it’s a leisurely 10-minute walk from the Steeple & Belfry.
The historic Spa lies at the south end of the beach, which hosts a wide range of entertainment throughout the year.
Foreshore Rd
If you’re arriving by train, Scarborough station is just a 10-minute walk from the Steeple & Belfry – or you can catch a cab right outside and be here in a couple of minutes.
Westborough
The Spa is a popular beachfront venue, offering conference, exhibition, entertainment and banqueting facilities. It’s also home to Scarborough’s Spa Orchestra and Farrer’s Bar & Brasserie – which serves locally-sourced quality food with wonderful sea views.
Cleveland Way
The Stephen Joseph Theatre is at the top end of town, opposite the railway station – about a 10-minute walk away. Brunswick Shopping Centre, in the heart of the town, is an indoor complex of over 30 shops, including Debenhams, Next, Top Shop and Argos. The main shopping street is Westborough, and you’ll find independent boutiques and shops on Bar Street, Huntriss Row and St Nicholas St.

A lovely, modern café serving a diverse, home-cooked menu from Japanese Ramen and Thai curries to gourmet burgers and Shetland pie. Also offers a great breakfast menu.

There is a cash point machine in the local Co-operative.
McColl’s, 1 Westwood Rd, Scarborough
The bus service into the Town centre runs Monday to Friday from 9:20am – 2:20pm daily. There is no Bus stop marked but if you wait across the road from the property adjoined to The Steeple (no 16) the Number 4A bus will pass hourly (about 20min past the hour) after departing The Garlands, Weaponness stop according to this timetable:
